This month’s Farmhouse Dinner is truly a farm-to-table dinner. Beef sourced from the locally publicized Kopp Farms, in Gerald, MO, and processed at Swiss Meats, in Hermann, MO. The wine features a private collection of Norton vintages grown in Morrison, MO, 30 minutes outside of Hermann.
Join us as we present a very rare opportunity for Norton lovers.
Norton was founded in the mid-1800s in Virginia as a seedling in the garden of Dr. DL Norton. It originated by birds spreading the plant seeds in the wild, thus becoming known as the “wild grape”. Decades later, the Norton grape is now known for flourishing in the area’s encompassing the Missouri River, from St. Charles County to Hermann.
We are very fortunate to have Scott and Carey Van Matre as customers and friends. They planted their own Norton in 1996 around the Gasconade River and made incredible fruit-forward Norton’s for many years, until destructive Japanese Beetles forced them to unroot their vines. These wines were treated with the utmost care, being hand-picked and then sorted to perfection.
